What is the Home Office Supplier Value Awards Programme?
The Supplier Value Awards Programme (SVAP) is a Home Office initiative that aims to encourage and recognise supplier excellence in helping the Home Office deliver value added benefits demonstrated through:
- cost savings and value for money delivered – actual pounds and/or percentage of contract value (without detriment of quality)
- other efficiencies driving value – timeliness, staff efficiencies, improved quality of product service and/or process
- innovation and creativity
- successful collaboration achieved – between the procurement professional and supplier
Why was the programme introduced?
The main aim of the programme was to provide a model and framework for communicating key Home Office requirements around cost savings and service improvements to our existing supply base, as well as to provide an opportunity to recognise excellence in driving value.
What are the categories of awards?
The Supplier Value Award categories for 2009 are:
- Most beneficial contribution to a project or programme
- Most beneficial contribution to sustainability
- Best example of performance improvement
- Best example of collaborative working with the Home Office
- Most beneficial contribution by a Small Medium Enterprise
- Most beneficial contribution to the Home Office by a Third Sector organisation
- Overall Supplier of the Year
What is the criteria to select winners and who will make the decision?
A panel of judges comprising of impartial representatives across the Home Office will evaluate supplier entries and select winners. They will look for entries that deliver against our supplier relationships initiatives. Specifically the judges will look for entries which demonstrate:
- value for money delivered through cost savings or enhanced delivery
- performance improvement
- collaborative working
- corporate social responsibility – specifically sustainability
When did it start?
The Supplier Value Awards Programme started in July 2007 and the first awards were presented at an award ceremony on 10 July 2008.
Who can enter the awards?
The programme is open to all current and recent the Home Office suppliers. If you had a live contract on 1st April 2007, you are eligible.
Do the changes to the structure of the Home Office that took place in May 2007 have any impact upon this programme?
The changes did not affect the core objectives of this initiative and entries were welcome from all Home Office suppliers.
When is the awards ceremony?
The ceremony is to be held on 9 July 2009. Further details will be provided nearer the date.
Who will be at the ceremony?
It is anticipated that senior Home Office Directors will be in attendance.
Was the ceremony covered by the national media?
There was some representation from the media.
What type of award will I receive if successful?
You will receive an engraved trophy which is yours to keep.
